What Dog Bark Control Collar Should You Choose?

One of The Dog Line friend acquired a small dog from an animal shelter. They say that he is about 2 years old. He is perfect for my lifestyle since we both enjoy long walks and jogging around the block. The only thing that is not right is this small dog barks at almost anything and for no reason at all.  If he is left alone in the front yard, he would start barking and when I call for him to get inside, the barking continues. I looked and found a solution before the neighbors would start complaining.

Different Types of Barking Collar

He got to search a website and found out that there are different types of dog bark control collars and mechanisms attached to it.  My research showed the following types of control:
  • Shock collars
  • Ultrasonic collars
  • Vibration or sound collars
  • Spray collars
Let us get to know more about these types of dog bark control collars.

Shock or Electric Bark Collar

Shock collars are available for remote or automatic types. This type is usually used for dog training.  Garmin Bark Limiter – Bark Control Collars, PetSafe Bark Collars, SportDog Bark Control Collars or DogTra IQ No Bark Collars are just some of the reliable and pet-safe brands that are available.  The dog bark control collars have different levels so that the owner can adjust what shock level is appropriate for the dog.

UltraSonic Bark Collar Type

The ultrasonic type also comes in automatic and manual control.  The system avails of a noise that only dogs can hear.  When the dog emits a bark, the mechanism will trigger the noise that would be irritating for the dog.

Vibration or sound on the collar emits a vibration like a cell phone on vibrate. When the dog barks module on the collar triggers a short vibration.  Most brands have different levels of vibration that will be appropriate for the dog.

Spray or Citronella Bark Collar

The last one is the spray collar. When the dogs bark it will trigger the collar. Three of the dog's senses are stimulated at the same time, sight, sound and smell. A hissing sound that is a danger, noise to any animal, a visible cloud shoots out from under the dog's chin and the strong scent of citronella, all at the same time and overwhelming the dog's senses.

Now that you know more about dog bark control solutions then the best decision can be made. Be sure that you have the appropriate collar dimensions and that the collar will not be too small or too big for your pet.
